Was I surprised when I got a call from my mom telling me that Grandma wanted to go to Lagoon. Not only go to Lagoon, but ride on the ferris wheel! Grandma has always liked going to Lagoon because she is a people watcher. She especially loves to watch the little children. We set the date: Thursday, August 21, 2008. We had the cast: Grandma, Mom, Val (my mother's brother), myself, Brian, and Amy. We met at Lagoon. When we got into the park, we asked Grandma what she wanted to do: ride the ferris wheel, or eat lunch (since it was about 1:00). She had heard Brian and Amy talking about riding "Wicked". She wanted to watch them ride that. So off we went to Wicked. This ride has a track that shoots you straight up and straight down. It does a cork screw and has roller-coster-like curves and dips. There is no way I was getting on that thing! I was able to point out to Grandma, Mom, and Val which car Amy and Brian were in. Mom could spot Brian because of his bald head. (Sorry, just a fact of life.) Amy and Brian loved it so much, they wanted to do it again. So Grandma told them to do it again. After that time, Val had decided he wanted a turn. Mom told me he is a dare devil. I didn't realize that. So off all of them went. Val was on the end seat, because he told Brian and Amy he might throw up. They didn't want to take any chances. All survived.
After riding Wicked, we went for a tamer ride, the Train. On our way there, Grandma won a teddy bear when the girl at the guessing booth could not guess Grandma's age within 3 years. Grandma is 98 years old. The girl guessed 82. Not bad, since most people think she is in her 70's. When leaving, Grandma said she needed to get another teddy bear so she would have one for Aliyah and one for Xander. Val went back and won another teddy bear.
Lunch time was next. Then, we went to the ferris wheel. We had to stand in line, and there was not any shade for Grandma. Val had brought along her hat, the one she choose at the fair last year, the one Grandma said was a good hat, the one she would not put on at Lagoon. Mom put it on her head while waiting in line, but she promptly took it off!
The people running the ferris wheel ride were wonderful. Of course it took some doing to get Grandma into the car. They held the car stable and let Brian, Amy, and I be in the next car so we could take pictures. When it was time to let us off, the guy running it asked if we wanted to go one more time. Of course, the answer was yes! :) Grandma had so much fun.
My dare devils (Bri and Amy) saw the catipult ride on the way to the ferris wheel, but on the way back, some people were riding it. We watched them fly into the air and bungie their way to a stop. Amy thought it would be awesome and Brian agreed. There was an extra charge to ride it, but Mom came to the rescue. She could see how much they would enjoy this ride, and gave them the money to do it. Both were excited. We watched them fly high. We even bought a video of their adventure. The grins did not stop after that ride.

Grandma was getting tired. By now, it was about 6:00. She was able to stay a lot longer than I thought she would. We walked Val, Mom, and Grandma to their car. Then, Brian, Amy, and I stayed a bit longer. We rode the jet star, and then, Brian and Amy rode Wicked 2 more times. Then, we headed home. One of the best things about Lagoon is it takes all of 5 minutes to get home. Unlike when I was a child, and it took forever (40 minutes).Next year, everyone is invited to come with Grandma to Lagoon. So plan on it:)

Thanks for posting those mom!!! It looks like Gram had tons of fun! Yeah, I would guess she was in her 80's, too, but that stupid girl didn't get anybody right when me and Ry were there, so she probably should be fired for giving away all the stuffed animals :)
